This new 3” backset model, reduced from 5”, allows the lock to fit a wider range of doors.
The Tyne was designed for heavy, acoustic doors. Now, alongside the original model, we have launched a new model of the single-point mortice locking system with a smaller, 3” backset (76 mm).
This offers the same resilience as the 5” (127 mm) original but fits a far wider range of standard door designs. It is also easier to retrofit into timber doors.
The 3” model features the same bolt size and throw as the original, with a 40 mm x 15 mm (1 1/2” x 5/8”) bolt and a 25 mm (1”) throw. This provides a high degree of resistance to leverage attacks.
With its aesthetic, mortice-fitted design and high-level forced entry protection capabilities, the Tyne is pushing the security door market forward.
The Tyne is built from Grade 316 stainless steel and has been engineered for longevity and trouble-free service. In addition, it has been tested to 1,000,000 cycles, proving its durability.

Further demonstrating its capabilities, the Tyne locking system has been certified to international standards for forced entry resistance, life safety, and fire protection.
These include LPS 1175: Issue 8 Security Rating C5 (SR3)* and LPS 1673 C300E* for forced entry, EN 1125 & EN 179 for life safety, EN 1670 GR4 for corrosion resistance, and EN 1634-1* and Certifire for fire containment (as part of a full doorset).
The Tyne offers a range of customisation options. It is fail secure as standard (with a fail safe option also available) and can be set to automatically or manually secure on closure, allowing you to match the security needs of your site. The Tyne is also bi-directional, affording an additional degree of flexibility.
There are multiple entry and exit options available. In addition, the Tyne integrates with access control systems, offering lock and bolt status monitoring for auditing and traceability. The Tyne is suitable for cylinders from leading manufacturers, and for additional protection we offer a range of cylinder guards tested for use with the Tyne.
Certified to a range of international standards.
