Exit Standards
The European Construction Products Regulation covers panic and emergency exit devices intended for use on escape route doors. Compliance with these harmonised standards, alongside evidence, such as third-party testing and review, allows manufacturers to apply for CE marking. Surelock McGill has successfully tested Panic and Emergency solutions to BS EN 1125 (panic) and BS EN 179 (Emergency) for both single and double-door applications.
Panic Exit
To ensure a safe, legally compliant exit, it is essential to choose the right product with the right certification. Surelock McGill has a wide range of BS EN 1125-approved products that provide high levels of security protection whilst maintaining a life safety panic exit. We offer numerous single and multi-point devices, which cover a wide range of operations and functionality, including exit-only systems and exit by key, remote operation, or combination lock release, whilst maintaining a full-width panic bar/plate exit. These systems can help both single and double doors meet BS EN 1125 and CE-marked standards.
Emergency Exit
Given legal requirements covering exit routes, it’s essential to choose the right product with the appropriate level of certification. Surelock McGill’s BS EN 179-accredited products ensure safety whilst also delivering robust security. We offer both single and multi-point systems with options for exit-only systems and exit by key, remote operation, and push plate. These systems can help ensure single and double doors meet BS EN 179 and CE-marked standards.

Time-Delayed Exit
There is a trend for grab-and-run attacks that use escape doors and target high-value goods. Surelock McGill offers an emergency exit that can combat this with a pre-set exit delay on escape doors. This controls exit from the building but reverts back to standard panic or emergency exit functionality if the fire alarm is activated.
